What experienced independent consultants do to LEVEL-UP their consulting business

Are you an independent professional in the international development or social impact spaces (i.e. you provide services as a consultant or freelancer to impact-driven organisations like NGOs, philanthropic organisations, United Nations agencies, or governmental organisations)?

Have you been consulting for a while, and doing okay, but want to raise your profile and "level up" your consulting practice? ​

Positioning yourself as the go-to expert in your field

This is the "holy grail" of consulting: being seen as "the expert". ​

And before that seems daunting, and before your "imposter syndrome" (from which the very best "experts" suffer, believe me) goes into overdrive, becoming an expert in your field is a process - not an outcome. ​

But when you make progress towards nailing this process, you nail the business development ("getting clients") challenge (about getting people to "know, like and trust" you) by default, as clients will want to work with you, and they may even delay projects to when you're available. ​

There are a lot of tactics that will enable you to position yourself as an expert in your field. The key to many of them is making your voice heard in a scalable and process-orientated way.
